RU-348-72 THE CITY OF NEW YORK AND RELATED PUBLIC EMPLOYERS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -X DECISION AND ORDER On November 13, 1972, District Council 37, AFSCME, AFL-CIO filed its petition herein, requesting to add the title of Supervising Laundry Worker to Certification MR-6/66, covering Laundry Worker, Senior Laundry Worker and Washer. Upon consideration of its investigation and after due deliberation, the Board of Certification issues the following decision: I. The Appropriate Unit Supervising Laundry Worker is a supervisory title created by the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. It is in a direct line of promotion between the lower-ranking Senior Laundry Worker and Washer and the Superior Laundry Foreman. The job description for this title states Under general supervision of Laundry Foreman, assists in supervision of groups or units of laundry workers, assigns production

The unit to which Petitioner requests the addition of Supervising Laundry Worker covers three non-supervisory laundry titles. There are presently two units of supervisory laundry personnel: Certification MR-8/67 covering Laundry Foreman, Laundry Supervisor, and Senior Laundry Supervisor, held by Civil Service Forum, Local 300, S.E.I.U., and Certification 5 NYCDL No. 75, covering Superintendent of Laundries, held by Local 832, I.B.T. We find that the Supervising Laundry Workers are most closely related to the other supervisory laundry titles and, therefore, to add them to a unit of non-supervisory titles would be inappropriate.
