RU-690-78 -and-THE CITY OF NEW YORK AND RELATED PUBLIC EMPLOYERS -------------------------------------X DECISION AND ORDER AMENDING CERTIFICATION On December 7, 1978, Licensed Practical Nurses of New York Inc. (herein LPNNY) requested an amendment of its Certification CWR-113/67 in order to reflect the change of name of that organization to LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSES AND TECHNICIANS OF NEW YORK, INC., LOCAL 721, SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION, AFL-CIO, CLC.” This certification covers employees in the title of Practical Nurse. The affirmation of Robert Silagi, Esq., attorney for the Union, which was submitted in support of the request, recites that At its annual convention held in May, 1976, LPNNY voted to enter into a temporary affiliation with Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO, CLC, and in turn received the designation Local 721, SEIU. On May 22, 1978, at its annual convention, the delegate assembly of LPNNY unanimously voted to make the affiliation permanent. The delegate assembly also voted to add the word Technicians to be title of the organization.
DECISION NO. 1-79 2 DOCKET NO. RU-690-78 The correct name of the organization now is LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSES AND TECHNICIANS OF NEW YORK, INC., LOCAL 721, SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION, AFL-CIO, CLC. The address of the organization remains the same as before. . . . There has been no change in internal structure of the organization, the officers, bylaws, dues, etc., all continuing as before. In short LPNTECH, LOCAL 721, SEIU is a continuation of LPNNY. Notice of this application was published in the City Record on December 21, 1978, and posted on the Boards public docket as well as on appropriate employees bulletin boards. No objections have been received. The Citys Office of Municipal Labor Relations, in a letter dated December 27, 1978, states that it has no objection to the requested change. Therefore, we shall grant the request. This amendment is not, however, to be considered as a new certification or a recertification. ORDER Pursuant to the powers vested in the Board of Certification by the New York City Collective Bargaining Law, it is hereby
