RU-311C-72 THE CITY OF NEW YORK AND RELATED PUBLIC EMPLOYERS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - X DECISION AND ORDER On April 20, 1972, District Council 37, AFSCME, AFL-CIO (herein called Petitioner), filed its petition (later amended by letters of June 12, 1972 and October 5, 1972) requesting to consolidate Certification MR-20-64 and MR-10-67 both covering Dental Assistant, and MR-4-64 covering Public Health Assistant, and to add thereto the titles of Assistant Public Health Advisor (Communicable Disease Control), Public Health Advisor (Communicable Disease Control) and Senior Public Health Advisor (Communicable Disease Control). 1 The City has not objected to the petition. 1 The petition bears Docket No. RU-311-72 and requested certification of Mental Health Worker, consolidation of the above numbered certifications, and amendment of other certifications. This decision is limited solely to Dental Assistants, Public Health Assistants, Assistant Public Health Advisors (C.D.C.), Public Health Advisors (C.D.C.), Senior Public health Advisors (C.D.C.) and their E.E.A. equivalents. The titles in the remainder of the petition have been or will be disposed of in separate decisions. (See Decision No.18-73).
Decision No. 19-73 Docket No. RU-311C-72 2. Upon consideration of its investigation and after due deliberation, the Board of Certification issues the following decision: THE APPROPRIATE UNIT Employees in the petitioned and certified titles perform various non-professional public health activities. It appears to the Board that employees in the titles of Assistant Venereal Disease Case Finder (E.E.A.), Assistant Venereal Disease Case Finder (E.E.A.-6), Assistant Venereal Disease Case Finder (E.E.A.-W) and Venereal Disease Case Finder (E.E.A.), share a community of interest with employees in the petitioned titles and should be included in the same bargaining unit. It appears to the satisfaction of the Board that the unit as amended herein is appropriate and that a majority of the employees in said unit have demonstrated their desire to be represented by District Council 37, AFSCME, AFL-CIO by having authorized check-off of dues in behalf of said organization.
Decision No. 19-73 Docket No. RU-331C-72 3. 0 R D E R NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the powers vested in the Board of Certification by the New York City Collective Bargaining Law, it is hereby ORDERED, that Certifications MR-10-67 and MR-20-64 (Dental Assistant) and MR-4-64 (Public Health Assistant) be, and the same hereby are, combined and consolidated so as to constitute one bargaining unit consisting of the titles set forth below; and it is further ORDERED, that the titles of Assistant Public Health Advisor (Communicable Disease Control), Public Health Advisor (Communicable Disease Control), Senior Public Health Advisor (Communicable Disease Control), Assistant Venereal Disease Case Finder (E.E.A.), Assistant Venereal Disease Case Finder (E.E.A.-6), Assistant Venereal Disease Case Finder (E.E.A.-W), and Venereal Disease Case Finder (E.E.A.) be, and the same hereby are, added to and included in the unit as herein consolidated, and it is hereby CERTIFIED that District Council 37, AFSCME, AFL-CIO is the exclusive representative for the purposes of collective bargaining of all employees in the consolidated unit, to wit: Dental Assistants, Public Health Assistants, Assistant Public Health Advisors (Communicable Disease Control), Public Health
