SCL cA 1k-005 IN THE SUPREME COURT OF THE NORTHWEST TERRITORIES

Between: HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN Appel1 ant a n d -

PATRICK WILLARD ALEEKUK Respondent Oa-MoLA-vail^

REASONS FOR JUDGMENT OF THE HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE W. 6. MORROW

There is not much point in me making a speech for your benefit, Mr. Aleekuk, because I am sure you have had it from the previous Magistrates when you have been before, them. On the very same offence you have had at least two previous appearances in 1975, which is not that long ago; and then a third one in 1975. You have got to buck up or pretty soon you're going to spend a lot of time in the Yellowknife Correctional Institute. Now, a young man like you shouldn't have to do that. It is to your credit that you pled guilty in the lower Court, and it is to your credit that you are apparently trying to improve yourself, so I am taking that into consideration. 1 In respect to the 10th of September offence the appeal will be allowed, and a new sentence will be substituted

In respect to the 11th of September offence, file 1446 thirty days consecutive. In respect to file 1444, which is the 13th of September fifteen days consecutive.

Pronounced at Inuvik, N.W.T, Tuesday, March 2, 1976.
