Abstract: The Respondent is seeking access to the child of the relationship and is prepared to accept supervised access in the interim with a review of the situation in 6 months or another agreed period of time. There is a history of conflict between the parties and there is concern regarding the effects of this conflict on the child. An assessment was completed and is referred to in submissions by counsel. There is presently no relationship between the Respondent and his son.
Decision: The Court adjourned the matter for one month and directed the parties to attempt to reach a joint submission regarding access and the identity of the supervisor for the access. Additionally, the Court recommended that the Respondent be involved in some form of counselling prior to the commencement of access.
