Opinion No. 35-1157
August 30, 1935
TO: Mr. Dwight Lee, Sheriff, Eddy County, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
{*80} This is in reply to your letter of August 28, 1935. I do not think it would be legal for the Board of County Commissioners to pay sheriffs for gasoline, oil and repairs {*81} on privately owned automobiles used in official business in addition to the 6c mileage provided in Chapter 81, Laws of 1935. In my opinion, this statute establishes the maximum amount that can be paid for the use of privately owned vehicles on official business.
