QUESTIONS
Is the Legislative Finance Committee liable for payment of the Capitol Custodian's assessment for the two legislative rooms occupied during the legislative interim?
CONCLUSION
Yes.
OPINION
ANALYSIS
Chapter 235, Laws 1957, pertinently reads:
"Provided, that the amounts herein appropriated shall be collected from other state agencies, departments and bureaus as assessed by the capitol custodian commission . . ."
There is nothing in the creating act of the Legislative Finance Committee to indicate its exemption from such assessment as is hereby authorized. Nor, by way of analogy, can anything be found making unique the status of the Legislative Finance Committee as compared to other similar agencies such as the Legislative Council, which is also liable.
Hence, we are of the opinion that the general rule of assessment liability holds for the Legislative Finance Committee.
