MSC NOTICE 2007-41

October 2007

To: Registrants

United Nations Resolution on Iran and United Nations Resolution on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

The Staff Notice is intended to serve as an update to advise registrants that the government recently enacted the United Nations Resolution on Iran (RIUNRI) and United Nations Resolution on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (UNRDPRK).

This change results in the requirement of two types of reports that are required to be filed on a monthly basis, the first report is about terrorist financing, and the second report is about the United Nations Act sanctions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and on Iran.

We have created new reporting forms for registrants to use in complying with their monthly reporting obligations under the UNRDPRK and the RIUNRI. These forms are posted on the MSC website at http://www.msc.gov.mb.ca

In order to keep reporting requirements to the MSC as streamlined as possible, we will require registrants to file only one monthly aggregate report in respect of the laws relating to terrorist financing, and one monthly aggregate report in respect of the laws relating to United Nations Act sanctions

If you are required to provide a similar report to another Canadian regulator or agency, the MSC will accept a copy of the report filed with that regulator or agency. It is not necessary to prepare a separate report.

Please submit the required report to Manitoba Securities Commission by fax to (204) 945-0330.
