PARTICULARS OF THE COMPLAINT:
Ms. Donna Ramoo-Smith is a registered insurance broker conducting business in the Newmarket area.
As a result of information received from the complainants, it appears that Ms. Donna Ramoo-Smith may have committed misconduct by accepting premium payments in cash and not forwarding the moneys either to the brokerage for deposit into the brokerage’s trust account or to the insurance companies.
DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE’S DISPOSITION:
The Discipline Committee accepted the plea of guilty by Ms. Donna Ramoo-Smith and accepted the evidence adduced by RIBO in support of the plea of guilty, including an Agreement Statement of Fact and Joint Submission as to penalty, signed on January 13, 2017 by Ms. Ramoo-Smith and finds that Ms. Donna Ramoo-smith is guilty of misconduct as set out in the Direction. The Discipline Committee, therefore, ordered:
(a) that Donna Ramoo-Smith be reprimanded.
(a) that a recommendation be made to the Qualification and Registration Committee that the Certificate of Registration of Donna Ramoo-smith is to remain acting under supervision for not less than five (5) years from the date of the Decision.
