Tammy Thompson

Registration Number: D27532

Orleans, Ontario

HEARING DATE:  April 21, 2016

MISCONDUCT:  Ontario Regulation 991, s15(1)11

PARTICULARS OF THE COMPLAINT:

Tammy Thompson was a registered insurance broker conducting business in the Town of Orleans, Ontario.

RIBO received information that Ms. Tammy Thompson may have committed misconduct by being convicted of a criminal offence in the Ontario Court of Justice on September 21, 2015.

DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE’S DISPOSITION:

The Discipline Committee found that Tammy Thompson was properly served with the Notice of Hearing and Direction. The Committee also noted that Tammy Thompson did not renew her license on or before September 30, 2015 and that RIBO accordingly de-registered her effective September 30, 2015.  The Discipline Committee retains jurisdiction to hear this matter as the events in question occurred during the time Tammy Thompson was registered with RIBO.

It had come to the attention of RIBO that Ms. Thompson falsified her Renewal Application dated August 28, 2014 by answering “No” to the question “Have you been charged or found guilty of a criminal offence not previously reported to RIBO?...” when in fact she had a matter pending in Court on Fraud charges, to which she pleaded guilty to on September 22, 2014.

Based on the evidence adduced, the Discipline Committee found that Tammy Thompson is guilty of misconduct.  The Discipline Committee, therefore, ordered:

(a)    That the Certificate of Registration of Tammy Thompson is revoked effective immediately.

(b)    That a recommendation be made to the Qualification and Registration Committee that they not approve any further application by Tammy Thompson for reinstatement of her Certificate of Registration for a period of five (5) years from the date of this Decision.
