     ORDER AND REASONS THEREFOR


[1]      The Citizenship Act does not provide power to extend the time period for filing an appeal under subsection 14(5). The Court has no jurisdiction to grant relief from late filing. See Canada (Minister of Multiculturalism and Citizenship v. Bakayoko (1993), 66 F.T.R. 133 (F.C.) and Re Chen (1996), 122 F.T.R. 77 (F.C.). The Rules do not provide power to extend a time period stipulated by statute.

[2]      The motion by the Applicant for an extension of time to file an appeal of the decision of Citizenship Judge Doreen Wicks dated December 7, 1999, is dismissed.
