Docket: IMM-6135-99

BETWEEN:

     ALEJANDRO MARIANO CHUNG,

     Applicant

     - and -

THE MINISTER OF CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION

     Respondent

     REASONS FOR ORDER AND ORDER

BLAIS J.

[1]      This is a motion by the applicant for an adjournment of the proceedings.

[2]      The applicant submits that the Supreme Court decisions in Al Sagban and Chieu v. Canada [1998] F.C.J. No 1776, (FED. C.A.) which are pending, need to be rendered prior to disposition by this Court.

[3]      The respondent suggests that the Immigration Appeal Division (I.A.D.) decision is consistent with the current case law as it stands now.

[4]      The applicant fails to substantiate why this Court should adjourn the case.

[5]      I am not convinced that there are sufficient reasons for this Court to depart from its practice of ensuring the good administration of justice in setting hearing dates in advance.

[6]      For these reasons, the motion for adjournment is dismissed.
