CERTIFICATION ORDER
WHEREAS the Periodical Writers Association of Canada was certified under the Status of the Artists Act by the Canadian Artists and Producers Professional Relations Tribunal on June 4, 1996;
AND WHEREAS the certification order was reissued by the Canada Industrial Relations Board (the Board) on April 29, 2013;
AND WHEREAS the Association has changed its name to the “Professional Writers Association of Canada” in 2005;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Canada Industrial Relations Board confirms that the Professional Writers Association of Canada is certified to represent a sector composed of:
a. professional freelance writers who are authors of works in a language other than French commissioned by a producer to whom the Status of the Artist Act applies for use in a magazine, newspaper or other periodical; and
b. professional freelance writers who are authors of works in a language other than French originally published in a magazine, newspaper or periodical with respect to the subsequent distribution of the work in another medium by a producer to whom the Status of the Artist Act applies.
AND that, for the purposes of section 28(2) of the Status of the Artist Act, the original date of the certification remains June 4, 1996.
