On December 17, 1992 a direction was given, under subsection 145(1) of the Code, to Bell Canada by safety officer Mr. Chris Mattson following an investigation into the reported explosion of an emergency generator. Bell Canada requested a review of the direction on December 30, 1992. The request being timely, the Office of the Regional Safety Officer began inquiring into the matter.

In a letter dated January 14, 1993, Mr. M.J. (Mike) Grinnell advised the safety officer that Bell Canada was withdrawing its request to have the direction reviewed. Mr. Grinnell also indicated that Bell Canada was complying with the requirements of the direction.

As the Regional Safety Officer responsible to review this direction, I am confirming that Bell Canada has withdrawn its request to have the direction, issued on December 17, 1992 by safety officer Mr. Chris Mattson, reviewed. I therefore consider that I am no longer seized of this matter. This file is closed.
