National Energy Board

Decision Information

Summary:

On 27 July 2012, LNG Canada applied to the National Energy Board (Board) pursuant to section 117 of the NEB Act for a licence (Licence) authorizing the export of LNG (Application). LNG Canada seeks a Licence term of 25 years, starting on the date of first export, and a maximum annual volume of 24 million tonnes of LNG (24 MMt/y), which corresponds to a natural gas equivalent of 3.23 Bcf/d 1 for a total of 32.95 Tcf over the term. Further, LNG Canada requests a 15 per cent annual tolerance to accommodate operating variables. LNG Canada proposed the point of export would be at the outlet of the loading arm of a proposed natural gas liquefaction terminal (Terminal) to be located near Kitimat, British Columbia. LNG Canada also requests that the Licence end on December 31, 2022 if exports have not commenced on or before that date.
