On December 13, 2017, the Alberta Utilities Commission received an application from AltaGas Utilities Inc. requesting approval to cancel its natural gas franchise agreement with the Village of Botha. Effective September 1, 2017, the Village of Botha dissolved and became a hamlet within the County of Stettler No. 6. The franchise agreement between the Village of Botha and AltaGas was approved on June 16, 2015 in Proceeding 20530.
