Pursuant to the provisions of subsection 77(1) of the Copyright Act, the Copyright Board of Canada issues a licence to Éditions de la Chenelière, as follows:

(1) The licence authorizes the reproduction of the fairy tale Vassilissa-la-très-belle taken from Contes russes adapted by Luda (alias Ludmilla Maknowsky, also known under the name of Luda Schnitzer) and published in 1993 by Scanéditions / La Farandole, Paris. The fairy tale will be reproduced in student reader “A” from the collection “Forum” published by Les Éditions de la Chenelière.

No more than 22 500 copies will be reproduced. Issuance of this licence does not release the licensee from the obligation to obtain permission for any other use not covered by this licence.

(2) The licence expires on December 10, 2008. Any authorized reproduction must be completed by that date.

(3) The licensee must clearly provide the standard bibliographical reference, namely, the work’s title, author, editor, and place and date of publication. The licensee must also state that the work is used under a licence issued by the Copyright Board of Canad a in collaboration with the Société québécoise de gestion collective des droits de reproduction (COPIBEC).

(4) The licence is non-exclusive and valid only in Canada. For other countries, it is the law of that country that applies.

(5) The will pay the sum of $495 to the COPIBEC, which may dispose of this sum as it sees fit for the general benefit of its members. COPIBEC undertakes, however, to reimburse

- 2 - any person who establishes, before December 10, 2013, ownership of the copyright in the work covered by this licence.

(6) The coming into force of this licence is conditional on COPIBEC filing with the Board the receipt for the amount of the licence, accompanied by an undertaking by COPIBEC to comply with the conditions set out in paragraph (5) above.
