A Notice of Appeal and request for a stay were received on January 28, 2021 from Greg Buchanan with respect to the January 19, 2021 decision of the Director, North Region, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA), to issue Water Act Enforcement Order No. EO-WA-33719 to Greg Buchanan for contravening section 36(1) of the Water Act by constructing trenches, without authorization in Big Lakes County.
In consultation with the parties, a mediation meeting was set and rescheduled several times. The mediation meeting proceeded virtually on November 25, 2021. Discussions continued following the mediation with regular status reports being provided to the Board.
As a result of a successful mediation, Mr. Buchanan withdrew his appeal on January 11, 2023. On January 12, 2023, the Board discontinued its proceedings and closed its file.
