Appellant – Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Operator – Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Location – Fort McMurray, Alberta, Type of Appeal – Discontinuance
A Notice of Appeal was received from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo on December 16, 2016. This appeal is in relation to the November 16, 2016 decision of the Director, Red Deer-North Saskatchewan Region, Alberta Environment and Parks, to issue EPEA Administrative Penalty No. EPEA-16/13-AP-RDNSR-16/13 to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in the amount of $50,000 for allegedly constructing a wastewater treatment plant without an Approval at 151 MacDonald Drive, Fort McMurray.
The parties requested the appeal be placed in abeyance while they pursued discussions with a view towards resolution of the appeal. The parties provided regular status reports to the Board on their discussions. On February 26, 2018 the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo notified the Board they were withdrawing their appeal. Based on the withdrawal of the appeal, the Board discontinued its proceedings and closed its file.
