A Notice of Appeal was received on April 12, 2013 from Trent and Lana McLaughlin, landowners, in relation to the March 19, 2013 decision of Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (AESRD) to issue Reclamation Certificate No. 00302766-00-00 to Devon Canada Corporation in connection with the Devon Nec Leddy 6-13-84-25 well site located within SW-13-84-25-W5M, near Grimshaw.
On April 26, 2013, the Board requested the parties provide available dates from June 20 to August 20, 2013 for a mediation meeting to allow for a site visit prior to the crop being cut down. AESRD advised they were not available during that period due to staffing issues and would have their technical staff conduct a site inspection on July 17, 2013. The Board was notified that the site inspection took place on July 16, 2013, with the landowner present. On July 17, 2013 in consultation with the parties, a mediation meeting was scheduled for September 5, 2013. The site inspection report was received on July 31, 2013 from AESRD stating that the site meets the 1995 Wellsite Criteria and was distributed to the parties. The Board received an e-mail on August 19, 2013 from the landowners advising that a resolution was reached with Devon and they were withdrawing their appeal. The Board discontinued its proceedings and closed its file on August 19, 2013.
