On March 4, 2011, a Notice of Appeal was received from Peter and Levke Eggers, landowners, with respect to the March 4, 2010 decision of Alberta Environment to issue EPEA Reclamation Certificate No. 00264135-00-00 to Fife Petroleum Ltd. c/o Orphan Well Association, for the Fife LaGlace 11-13-74-8 well located at NW 13-74-8-W6M, near LaGlace.
In consultation with the participants, the Board scheduled a mediation meeting for September 16, 2011 in LaGlace, however a request was received from the Orphan Well’s consultant requesting the mediation meeting be rescheduled due to conflict with his schedule. The Board confirmed all participants agreed with the delay and asked they provide further dates for a mediation meeting. On September 9, 2011 Alberta Environment requested an abeyance of the appeal to allow the participants time for discussions, which the Board agreed to. The Board received a letter from Alberta Environment on October 14, 2011 advising the Reclamation Certificate had been cancelled. Consequently, the Eggers withdrew their appeal on October 20, 2011, and the Board closed its file.
