A Notice of Appeal was received on May 20, 2011 from Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. with respect to the April 21, 2011 decision of Alberta Environment to cancel Reclamation Certificate No. 00263831-00-00 which had been issued to Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. for the Merland et al Girouxlk well located at 10-17-066-21-W5M. The certificate was cancelled as a result of a surface audit that revealed the soil profile failed to meet criteria and contouring of the wellsite did not blend or conform to adjacent land.
The Board received a request on June 10, 2011 from CNRL to place the appeal in abeyance to allow for a site inspection later in the summer. The abeyance was granted and the Board received a status report on September 30, 2011 indicating the participants were close to resolving the appeal. On October 17, 2011 Alberta Environment advised that an agreement had been reached and on October 25, 2011, CNRL confirmed that an agreement had been reached and withdrew the appeal.
