Subject:        Application for reconsideration of the certification order
filed by SARTeC

Dear Sirs:

A panel of the Canadian Artists and Producers Professional Relations Tribunal met on Friday, June 8, 2001, to consider the application for reconsideration in the above-mentioned file.

The Tribunal asked me to inform you that after reviewing all the relevant documents filed by the parties and given the agreement of all the stakeholders in the file, the Tribunal is of the view that the certification order for SARTeC may be amended as proposed by SARTeC.

As a result, the wording will be as follows:

dans l’ensemble du Canada, un secteur qui comprend :

a) les auteurs d’œuvres littéraires ou dramatiques originales en langue française destinées à la radiodiffusion, à la télédiffusion, au cinéma et à l’audiovisuel;

b) les auteurs qui adaptent sous forme de scénario en langue française pour la radio, la télévision, le cinéma ou l’audiovisuel des œuvres littéraires ou dramatiques originellement destinées à un autre mode de diffusion dans le public;

c) les auteurs mentionnés aux paragraphes (a) et (b) ci-dessus lorsqu’ils effectuent leur propre recherche;

mais  qui ne vise pas les réalisateurs dans leur fonction de réalisateur.

In English, the wording would be as follows:

across Canada, a sector that includes:

a) the authors of original literary or dramatic works written in French for radio and television broadcasting, for film and audio-visual media;

b) authors who adapt in French original literary or dramatic works originally intended for another form of presentation to the public to screenplay for radio, television, film or audio-visual media;

c) the authors described in paragraphs (a) and (b) above when they conduct their own research;

but does not cover the directors in their role of director.

The new certification certificate will be placed on the Tribunal’s Web site shortly. If you have questions, feel free to contact me at 613-996-4053 or by e-mail at dubois.josee@ic.gc.ca.

You will find attached a copy of the certification order.

Sincerely,

Josée Dubois
